Gates has One-Person Art Exhibition
Jack Gates, a Professor in the Department of Art at Indiana State University, currently has a one-person exhibition on display at the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Bry Art Gallery.
Gates' 14-piece exhibition consists of freestanding, furniture-like functional forms, as well as the more anticipated relief objects. The artist's works display knowledge of varied materials as they range from large to minute sculptural forms.
A native of Shreveport and a former art faculty member at the University of New Orleans, Gates views this collection as a "mini-retrospective." In the display, the artist takes a personal introspective look into his influences, mentors and family.
This exhibition will be on display through Nov. 4. Bry Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
