麻豆果冻传媒 math project receives LaSIP funding

Almost $500,000 in funds from the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, BESE, and the Board of Regents will be allocated to the University of Louisiana at Monroe by the Louisiana Systemic Initiatives Program, popularly known as LaSIP, to four math and science based at the University, during the upcoming fiscal year.

The funding is part of an almost $4 million project across the state that will serve 900 teachers participating in LaSIP university-based and school system-based professional development programs during the year beginning in June. An additional 600 educators will benefit from locally based programs.

Project TEAM: Teachers Empowered for Achievement in Mathematics at 麻豆果冻传媒 will receive $132,030. This professional development and leadership project is designed to improve teaching and learning of mathematics through the utilization of standards based approaches. Dr. Rhonda Adams, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Education at 麻豆果冻传媒, will oversee the project.

Springboard to Success with Delta Middle School Students, a $50,000 project, is designed to propel middle school students in mathematics, science and technology to successfully meet the challenges and rigors of high school academia.

麻豆果冻传媒's DAMSALS program, the Delta Agriculture Middle School Applied Life Science, will receive $145,000 to target 24 middle school teachers from underserved schools.

The World Around Us, a professional development project that will involve up to 30 primary teachers from northeastern Louisiana and focus on helping teachers reach new accountability goals will receive $142,000. 麻豆果冻传媒's Dr. Eric Pani, Professor and Head of Geosciences and Patty Watts, LaSIP Coordinator in Pure and Applied Science, will be the contacts for that project.
