麻豆果冻传媒 Professor To Present Lecture At Festival In Sweden

William Nichols, Emy-Lou Biedenharn Professor of Music at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will present a featured lecture at the 2002 ClarinetFest, July 4, in Stockholm, Sweden. This five-day international meeting is the annual convention of the International Clarinet Association.

Dr. Nichols is the Audio Review Editor of The Clarinet, the journal of the International Clarinet Association, and he authors a column entitle "Audio Notes," which appears in the quarterly journal. Nichols has served since 1996 as an editor of the journal, now in its 29th year of publication. The presentation at the Royal University College of Music, entitled Harold Wright: The Recorded Legacy, focuses on a legendary American musician who was a recording artist and a long-time principal clarinetist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and who died suddenly in 1993. Dr. Nichols will be assisted by Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr, internationally known soloist, chamber musician, and professor of clarinet at Michigan State University, and by John Yeh, associate principal clarinetist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Nichols, and 麻豆果冻传媒 colleagues pianist Richard Seoler and cellist Mark McCleery were featured performers at last year's ClarinetFest meeting in New Orleans, which brought together some 1,100 clarinetists from over the world. This ensemble, The Ouachita Trio, performs regularly and represents 麻豆果冻传媒 as one of the School of Music's faculty ensembles.
