Broadway Diva Replaces Ailing Friend in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ Lysistrata
Felicia Finley, Star of Elton John's Aida on Broadway, will replace ailing Tony Award nominee Andrea McArdle in the upcoming TheatreWorksÂ鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ production of Lysistrata. In addition to her work in the hit Disney musical, Ms. Finley has been seen in The Life and Smokey Joe's Café on Broadway, the national tours of Jekyll and Hyde and Jesus Christ Superstar (25th anniversary production), and The Wild Party and Forbidden Broadway off-Broadway. Her film credits include He Got Game and Spike Lee's Summer of Sam. Ms. Finley, a native of Louisiana, will appear with local performers (playing the comedy's title role), visit classes, and participate in an Inside The Actors Studio-like session (Monday May 3rd , 6PM, Biedenharn Recital Hall, free)open to the general public.
Lysistrata deals with women's attempts to end war. Written by Aristophanes to chronicle the war between Athens and Sparta some 2500 years ago, the TheatreWorksÂ鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ production sets the action in Civil War America. Performances are scheduled for April 29, 30, May 1, 6, 7, 8 at 7:30 nightly in the premiere curtain-raising of the reopened Brown Theatre on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
