Graduating Senior Exhibition to be Held at Bry Art Gallery
The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe
is currently showing a graduating senior exhibition by two May
Bachelor of Fine Arts recipients. Coby Winn of West Monroe is
displaying her senior portfolio in ceramics, while Logan Reulet
of Plaquemine is showing his senior portfolio in painting.
Ms. Winn's exhibition consists primarily of wheel-thrown glazed
stoneware traditional utilitarian ware. Many of her pieces were
fired by the raku technique, with some "after fire"
decorative objects such as leather, pine straw or horsehair added
to the objects. Selected pieces are very outsized, with wheel-thrown
efforts constructed in sections, and others in a coil based hand-built
presentation.
In support of this collection of jars, bowls, bottles, vases
and other containers, were deconstruction pieces and some works
more akin to sculpture. The sculptural submissions consist of
non-objective stoneware pieces, figurative wood and leather assemblages
as well as deconstructed plaster human busts.
Reulet's exhibition consists of acrylic and oil pigments on canvas,
often augmented with charcoal. His imagery is predominantly figurative
with images placed in recognizable environments and others in
a solid red field. The artist employs multiple panel compositions,
plus embellishments of fabric and other assemblage additions
in his compositions.
The Winn and Reulet exhibition will hold a closing reception
on Friday evening, July 16 at 6:30 pm in the Bry Art Gallery.
Normal hours of the gallery are 8-4 on weekdays.
