The University of Louisiana at Monroe is undergoing some administrative changes, effective today.
Dr. William Bourn will begin transitioning to his new responsibilities in University Advancement and External Affairs as Associate Vice President for Health Sciences Development. Bourn has served as Dean of the College of Pharmacy and the College of Health Sciences for over 17 years. Among his many accomplishments was guiding the development and implementation of the PharmD program during challenging times. Richters, 麻豆果冻传媒 Provost commented, "Although Dr. Bourn's leadership will be missed in the college, his experience will remain an asset to the university as he helps raise external funds to support our health sciences programs."
While 麻豆果冻传媒 searches for a new dean, the day-to-day administrative activities in the College of Health Sciences will be handled by Dr. Jan Corder, the Associate Dean for the College. The administrative experience Jan gained during her many years as Director of the School of Nursing and Dean of the College of Nursing will be invaluable during this transition period.
Dr. Greg Leader will be appointed Associate Dean for the School of Pharmacy and will administer the School until a permanent dean is hired. Leader's past service as Head of the Department of Clinical and Administrative Sciences, and Assistant Dean for Student and Professional Affairs, assure us that the day-to-day operations of the School will be well supervised.
All of these administrative changes are subject to approval from the Louisiana Board of Supervisors.
A national search for a dean in the College of Health Sciences' is already underway, and is expected to be completed by the Fall 2004 semester.
