School of Visual and Performing Arts Presents Artistic Events
The University of Louisiana at Monroe鈥檚 School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) has plenty to offer the cultural enthusiast this semester.
On Tuesday, Jan. 31, Deborah McClung-Guillory, pianist, and Verena Riley, cellist, will present a recital as part of the VAPA Concert Series. The recital will include a wide range of musical styles - from Chopin to Ragtime. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Biedenharn Recital Hall.
Tickets are $7 for the general public. 麻豆果冻传媒 students, faculty and staff will attend free of charge with I.D.
The ULM Art Alumni Invitational and 75th Anniversary Show began on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and will run through Thursday, Feb. 9. The alumni art show will be on display at Bry Art Gallery. The exhibit鈥檚 reception will be on Fri., Feb. 3 and begin at 6 p.m.
On Monday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m., VAPA and the Division of Music will present an Alumni-Faculty Concert in Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of 麻豆果冻传媒 featuring Jana Young, soprano; William Nichols, clarinet; and Russell Young, piano.
The concert will be held at the Biedenharn Recital Hall. Audience members will hear selections by Bellini, Mozart and other composers. Everyone attends free of charge.
On Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m., Bamboula 2000 will appear at 麻豆果冻传媒鈥檚 Biedenharn Recital Hall. Bamboula 2000 is a music and dance experience with universal appeal. Founded in 1994, Bamboula 2000 celebrates the rich cultural contributions of Congo Square in New Orleans. The original music of the group combines traditional West African rhythms, reggae, New Orleans, bamboula/secondlines, contemporary jazz, urban styles and funk.
Tickets are $10 for the general public. 麻豆果冻传媒 students, faculty and staff will attend free of charge with I.D.
Many other activities will follow throughout the semester.
