麻豆果冻传媒 Water Ski Team hosts 麻豆果冻传媒 Bayou DeSiard Classic Sept. 23, 24

The 麻豆果冻传媒 Water Ski Team, which boasts both world and national championship skiers, is hosting the 2006 Bayou DeSiard Classic on Saturday, Sept. 23 beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday鈥檚 events include men and women鈥檚 slalom and trick skiing. The tournament will resume on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 8 a.m. with Women鈥檚 and Men鈥檚 Jump.

麻豆果冻传媒 fans are encouraged to watch the ski team compete in three events: slalom, trick skiing and jumping. The 麻豆果冻传媒 team has won many national championships and has several world champions and record holders in these events, said Treina Landrum, director of recreational services and coach of the 麻豆果冻传媒 Water Ski Team.

鈥淲e have a great lineup of skiers and are looking forward to a strong turnout from the 麻豆果冻传媒 Students, faculty, staff and community members at our tournament. People really enjoy the spectacular skiing they see from our team. The university is really proud to have such a wonderful group of world class athletes.鈥

The 麻豆果冻传媒 Water Ski Team competes in the NCWSA (National Collegiate Water Ski Association) South Central Region. Other schools competing in this conference include: University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Baylor University, University of Texas, Louisiana Tech, Texas State University, Stephen F. Austin University, The University of Arkansas, The University of Oklahoma, Texas Tech University and Tarleton State University.

The tournament will be free to the public, and concessions and t-shirts will be available for purchase. Maroon Platoon and CAB will host a cookout. Spectators are asked to bring their own chairs and watch the competition from the bayou.

The 麻豆果冻传媒 Water Ski Team will travel to the Regional Tournament on Sept. 30 in Lafayette and to the National Championship Tournament in Sacremento, Calif. in October.
