Dental department to hold seminar April 28
鶹ý’s dental hygiene department will conduct a “Focus on Dentistry” seminar for dentists, hygienists and staff Saturday, April 28, beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the 鶹ý Library, 7th floor.
The speaker for this session is Helmer Professor Gerard J. Chiche, who holds a D.D.S. and is chairman of the prosthodontics department at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. He has given numerous programs nationally and internationally and holds several memberships, including ones in the American College of Dentists and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
His speech, titled “Recipes for Predictable Esthetics,” has the following objectives:
- learn the key factors for treatment planning of anterior restorations
- evaluate the key factors critical to a positive esthetic outcome
- establish a prognosis for esthetic success,
- shade taking in three simple steps
- identify the typical shading effects for the young tooth
- plan the arrangement and prescribe imperfections for lifelike restorations
- discuss essential strategies for communication with the laboratory
- establish selection criteria between ceramic systems based on esthetic performance
- systemize all-ceramic crown systems for cement selection
- establish simple precautions to maximize the prognosis for all-ceramic crowns
- demonstrate a predictable all-porcelain crown cementation technique
- discuss preparation variations for porcelain veneers and three-quarter crowns
- discuss cement selection and bonding for porcelain veneers
- set strategies for presenting and managing elective restorative treatment
- discuss esthetic-restorative and periodontal restorative complications.
Each session qualifies for seven hours of Continuing Education credits. 鶹ý has been designated an approved sponsor by The Louisiana Constituent of The Academy of General Dentistry.
Individual courses are $300 for dentists, $150 for hygienists and $65 for staff. This includes lunch and refreshments. Support of the dental seminars directly benefits the 鶹ý Dental Hygiene Program.
