Cofer, along with Student Government Association president Rob Carroll and Campus Activities Board representative Micah Pulliam, delivered praise and thanks to the many entities involved in the project.
鈥淥ne of the things I said in my inaugural address is that I have three priorities at this institution,鈥 continued Cofer. 鈥淭hey are to the current students, the former students, and the future students. This building represents all of those wrapped into one.鈥
Cofer made a special presentation to Mrs. Yvonne Anderson during the ceremonies. Anderson was the first female Student Council president of then Northeast Junior College in 1945-46. Anderson was presented with a framed photo of the Student Council from the 1946 Chachahoula.

Pulliam presented the 75th Anniversary Time Capsule to be opened at the University鈥檚 Centennial celebration in 2031. The time capsule includes memorabilia from the 75th Anniversary celebration, fact books on the university, and a scroll signed by the faculty, staff and students in 2006.
The $7 million project will become the focal point for student-oriented activities on campus. The SUB and Student Center contains a large ballroom, a commuter and non-traditional student lounge, a Faculty Club, meeting rooms, and quiet rooms for studying. The renovated Food Court hosts a variety of cuisine choices, including Subway, Java City, Chick-Fil-A, and Freshen鈥檚.
