Eta Sigma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi celebrates highly successful year

The Eta Sigma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi celebrated the culmination of a highly successful 2006-2007 chapter year with the close of the 2007 spring semester.

At the last meeting of the spring semester, the Eta Sigma Chapter elected its slate of officers to lead during the 2007-2008 chapter year.

At the last meeting of the year, President Nicia Mercer announced the chapter had once again earned Superior designation amassing the required hours established by the international guidelines of the organization by the end of March. Chapter members had attended 533 hours of professional meetings during the year and had volunteered 534 hours in community and campus service activities.

The chapter selected the second honorary member in its history, when Lawrence I. White-Jonesboro, a CPA and 麻豆果冻传媒 alumnus (BBA 鈥�70, MBA 鈥�72), was inducted to membership April 30 and also named Business Professional of the Year for 2007. He will be placed in nomination for the national award of the same name.

The crowning point of the year came May 4 when the 麻豆果冻传媒 Student Government Association named Beta Alpha Psi 2006-2007 Organization of the Year (from among 140 campus organizations) and named Patti Roshto as the RSO Faculty Advisor of the year.

Officers were elected to serve the chapter for the 2007-2008 year. Katie Garlington, a Monroe senior, will lead the chapter as president. Her cabinet will include Administrative Vice President Brian Evans, a Shreveport senior; Vice President of Programs Joel Foret, a Plaucheville junior; Vice President of Service Jaime Hill, a Winnsboro junior; Executive Secretary Lauren Murphy, a Monroe junior; Reporting Secretary Marcy Haynes, a Jones senior; Treasurer Katie Robinson, a West Monroe junior; and Historian Shannon Miller, a Baskin senior.

Seven members of the Eta Sigma Chapter, including past-president Mercer and six of the officers for the upcoming year, will represent the organization at the international meeting to be held in Chicago August 2 鈥� 4.

Garlington, Mercer and Robinson will present a program in a session entitled 鈥淏AP Officers: Chapter/Life/School Balance.鈥�

Students will also participate in a half-day service project planned to benefit the Chicago area. They will also attend professional technical sessions planned around the theme 鈥淏ridge to Professionalism.鈥�
