麻豆果冻传媒 Counseling Center releases program list for fall 2007 and spring 2008
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Counseling Center offers a variety of opportunities to any 麻豆果冻传媒 students, including short programs/discussions (usually one hour in length), theme-based activities, and support groups. If faculty and staff are interested in specific sessions, they will also have ones provided for them.
The fall 2007 lineup will begin Monday, Aug. 27 with one of the short programs/discussions, 鈥淒on鈥檛 Fence Me In,鈥 a discussion of healthy and unhealthy boundaries.
Other scheduled short programs in the fall include:
- 鈥淒ancing with
Your Shadow鈥 on Monday, Sept. 10. The session
will address when strong reactions are not about someone
else, but are really about us.
- 鈥淢eeting New People鈥 on Thursday, Sept. 13 for those
learning how to establish a new social network.
- 鈥淥vercoming Test Anxiety鈥 on Monday, Sept. 17.
- 鈥淧rotecting Yourself鈥 on Wednesday, Sept. 19 to help
attendees minimize the risk of experiencing a violent crime.
- 鈥淭ime Management鈥 on Thursday, Sept. 20 with the focus that
controlling one鈥檚 time can reduce stress.
- 鈥淕ambling鈥擭OT a Harmless Extracurricular Activity鈥 on
Thursday, Oct. 4, intended to educate about the warning
signs and consequences of compulsive gambling.
- 鈥淯nderstanding Your Learning Style鈥 on Wednesday, Oct.
17 to help attendees maximize their learning potential.
- 鈥淪tress in the City鈥 on Wednesday, Nov. 7 will teach
ways to manage contemporary stress, brought on by having too
much to do and not enough time.
The support groups offered in the fall will include:
鈥淧ersonal Growth Group 1 on Thursdays, Aug. 30; Sept. 6, 13, 20, and 27; and Oct. 4.
鈥淕rief and Loss Group鈥 on Wednesdays, Sept. 12, 19, and 26; and Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31.
Activities for 2007 include:
鈥淣ational Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week鈥 will occur from Oct. 21 鈥 27
Scheduled short programs in spring 2008 include:
- 鈥淚 Inherited
What?鈥 on Monday, Jan. 28. This session will
help with understanding what is 鈥渋nherited鈥 from families
using a genogram.
- 鈥淭he Buck Stops Here鈥 on Monday, Feb. 11 to help
participants break unhealthy family patterns.
- 鈥淓nergy Drinks: Helpful or Harmful鈥 on Monday, Feb.
18.
鈥淐ollege Men鈥檚 Health鈥 on Tuesday, Feb. 19 with a look at how guys鈥 behavior impacts their health.
- 鈥淪triving for Perfection鈥 on Thursday, Feb. 21. The
session will help attendees gain a deeper understanding of the dangers
associated with perfectionism.
- 鈥淒ating Violence鈥 on Thursday, March 6. Participants
will be given warning signs of potentially violent relationships.
- 鈥淪exual Harassment on Campus鈥 on Wednesday, March 12,
intended to educate about the forms of sexual harassment and of
campus policies that protect the students.
- 鈥淒isability Awareness鈥 on Thursday, April 3, examining
the question of who has a disability and what does it mean?
- 鈥淭he Art of Changing鈥 on Thursday, April 10 to teach
how to implement change successfully.
The support groups offered in the spring will include:
鈥淩educing Anxiety Group鈥 on Wednesdays, Jan. 30; Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27; and March 5.
鈥淧ersonal Growth Group 2鈥 on Thursdays, Jan. 31; Feb. 7, 14, 21, and 28; and March 6.
Activities for 2008 include:
鈥淣ational Alcohol Screening Day鈥 will occur on Thursday, April 10. Interested participants should call to schedule a screening.

Regular counseling services are also provided. Appointments are encouraged, as counselors might be otherwise assisting clients, but walk-ins are welcome and encouraged.
