Louisiana State Police conducts officer training June 5 at 麻豆果冻传媒

The Louisiana State Police is conducting "Rapid Deployment for Critical Incidents" for area officers at the University of Louisiana at Monroe Tuesday, June 5. The training, approximately 10 hours, is in response to a mandate from Gov. Kathleen Blanco and the Louisiana Board of Regents to increase training for officers in light of the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech.

Officers from 麻豆果冻传媒, Louisiana Tech University, Grambling State University, the West Monroe Police Department, the Monroe Police Department, Louisiana Delta Community College, all Louisiana Technical Colleges, the Winnsboro Police Department, and the Franklin Parish Sheriff鈥檚 Office will participate in the training program.

Training will begin at 8 a.m. in 麻豆果冻传媒's Airway Science Building. Officers will train in the Nursing Building at 1 p.m. and continue training at the Chemistry and Natural Science Building at 3 p.m.

The training program is designed to train officers to react quickly and to work cohesively, said 麻豆果冻传媒 UPD Police Chief Larry Ellerman. "Team members must think alike to respond properly, efficiently. It's fantastic training."

麻豆果冻传媒's police officers will also participate in invitation-only training at (the East Baton Rouge Parish Academy in Gonzalez), known as the Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response (LASER) Course, June 19-20 in Gonzalez. The hands-on training is designed to teach first responders how to rapidly deploy during an active shooter incident in order to prevent further loss of innocent life.
