麻豆果冻传媒鈥檚 31 Ambassadors win prestigious ASAP awards

Members of the 麻豆果冻传媒 31 Ambassadors, the proactive student-alumni service organization, won awards for the second year in a row at the 2007 Association of Student Advancement Programs District IV Conference March 9 鈥� 11 in Dallas, Texas.

The 31 Ambassadors applied for and won two district awards. Persephone Alexander, vice president of public relations, was named the Outstanding Student Leader of the Year. The group won an Outstanding External Program award for their 2006 Oozeball tournament, an annual mud volleyball competition for 麻豆果冻传媒 students, which has grown in size and popularity for 20 years.

鈥淭he 31ers continue to add new programs to their annual calendar,鈥� said Molly Pealer, assistant director of alumni programs. 鈥淭he existing programs continue to expand and promote good will to all involved. The district recognizes that the 31ers are a premier and inspiring organization.鈥�

Members of the group presented two educational sessions. The first, 鈥淵our Philanthropy is Showing鈥�,鈥� showcased various community service projects that the 31 Ambassadors have either coordinated or participated in, with the intention of giving conference participants ideas for philanthropy projects they can implement at their respective universities. The second, titled 鈥淓tiquette: 101,鈥� taught participants all about first impressions, proper introductions, interview etiquette and dinner table etiquette.

ASAP, a program of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, is an association of student organizations at more than 300 higher education institutions in North America, all with the common goal of enriching student advancement programming. ASAP is a unique program run by students, for students, with the help of district advisers and CASE staff.

The 31 Ambassadors is sponsored by the ULM Alumni Association and is largely self-sustaining with additional funding coming from the generous contributions of benefactors and the ULM Alumni Association. They serve as the official host for alumni-related activities while sponsoring events aimed at increasing student awareness of 麻豆果冻传媒 and the Alumni Association. They also foster the spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy among students and future alumni.
