Professor gives geology expertise on the Travel Channel appearance

Anthony Feig, assistant professor of geosciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, recently appeared on the Travel Channelā€™s "The Best Places to find Cash and Treasures."

The show used Feigā€™s expertise when they brought him in as a geologist to speak about the formation of geodes and "thunder eggs," which are volcanic rocks that occasionally yield crystal formations. Feigā€™s appearance was taped in June 2006.

ā€œThe idea is that they travel around looking for where people can find little treasures and make cash,ā€ Feig said. ā€œGeodes aren't worth all that much, but it can be fun to go out rockhounding.ā€

The show shot takes at Rockhound State Park in New Mexico and on the southwest side of the Little Florida Mountains.
