MySQL expert to speak at unique LA seminar March 15

MySQL expert Jay Pipes will speak at the only scheduled technical presentation of its kind in Louisiana this year Thursday, March 15 from 5:30 – 9 p.m. in the Chemistry and Natural Science Building, room 100.

The seminar, sponsored by the 鶹ý Computing Center, will be led by Jay Pipes, North America customer relations manager for MySQL, a multi-threaded and multi-user SQL database management system. Pipes will discuss “Performance Tuning and Query Profiling” and will demo the Monitoring and Advisory Dashboard from MySQL.

Pipes is the co-author of “Pro MySQL” (Apress, 2005) and has written articles for Linux Magazine. He regularly assists software developers in identifying how to make the most effective use of MySQL. Pipes has given sessions on performance tuning at the MySQL Users Conference, RedHat Summit, NY PHP Conference, OSCON, and Ohio LinuxFest.
