COP to receive funds for cancer research

The University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy will receive $12,500 from the Louisiana Cancer Foundation on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m. in the Bienville Building, located at 1800 Bienville Dr. The donation will help fund breast and prostate cancer research currently being conducted by the COP.

The research being conducted by Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½â€™s pharmacy professors is vital, said Director of the Louisiana Cancer Foundation Virginia Knickerbocker in an earlier statement. “It is important that significant cancer research such as this is taking place in our own community.â€

Research plays a major role in the foundation’s mission, she said. “We are proud to be able to focus on the research aspect of our mission along with education, early detection, and prevention.â€

The Louisiana Cancer Foundation was founded in 1999 by the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute for the purpose of increasing public awareness, early detection, treatment, and research for cancer in the state of Louisiana. It also supports several organizations with volunteer and monetary help.
