Biology department to host science fair workshop for area teachers Nov. 10
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Biology Department will host a free Science Fair Workshop for invited area sixth- through 12th-grade science teachers Saturday, Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. – noon in the Chemistry and Natural Science Building.
Teachers will hear about the upcoming 2008 science fair (March 19 – 20) and receive packets concerning new rules and all necessary paperwork. Many 鶹ý faculty members will assist teachers with project ideas from various disciplines.
Invitations were issued to teachers in Region III who had expressed interest in future workshops by previous letter and phone contact. Region III parishes include Ouachita, Morehouse, West Carroll, East Carroll, Richland, Madison, Franklin, Tensas, and Caldwell. Knobloch said the biology department is in the process of also incorporating outside personnel from vocational/technical schools and the private sector.
“We would like to invite area teachers to participate with us as we strive to meet the needs of our schools and bolster interest within the many fields of science,” said Amanda Knobloch, Region III science fair director and 鶹ý biology instructor.
Aramark will provide a light brunch.
