SBDC to present social security wage and tax filing seminar Sept. 25
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Small Business Development Center will provide a free “Social Security Tax Year 2007 Wage and Tax Filing Seminar†Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. – noon at the ULM Administration Building, Room 2-105.
The seminar will be beneficial for the business or company payroll person who is responsible for annual wage/tax reporting (Form W-2, W-3, and SSN verification). Employees who enter names or social security numbers into the payroll system should also attend the seminar.
Some of the topics to be covered include: Changes in Reporting for Tax Year 2007, Ways to Report W-2s, Advantages of Electronic Filing, and Ways to Avoid Errors (and the Penalties That Go With Them).
The seminar open to the public, and is being presented by Don Carroum of the Social Security Administration.
These opportunities are part of the LSBDC’s continuing education program, as it provides quality, no-fee, confidential, one-on-one counseling services to potential and existing business owners; provides no-fee management and technical assistance services by appointment; conducts workshops and seminars to help small business people become better managers and to keep them informed about current events and changing trends in today’s business world; and maintains a resource library which includes statistical data, census figures, SBA publications, and a variety of other information.
