麻豆果冻传媒 professor awarded Louisiana Post Secondary Teacher of the Year
Michael Beutner, associate professor of instructional technology at 麻豆果冻传媒, has been selected as the 2008 Louisiana Post Secondary Teacher of the Year for his efforts to guide, broaden and enhance educational technology practice in schools.
Beutner, also the director of the 麻豆果冻传媒 Teaching and Learning Resource Center, was granted this honor by the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators at their 24th Annual Conference in Baton Rouge last week.
鈥淲ith the great support of 麻豆果冻传媒, the state of Louisiana has recognized the value of using technology to serve the greater community, with skills and tools needed for a knowledge-based economy,鈥 he said.
Beutner was quick to add that 麻豆果冻传媒 instructional technology graduate student Roxana Butler gave a very well received presentation at LACUE, and through her influence, many teachers in surrounding schools are producing and using video made with a simple and inexpensive camcorder.
Beutner also coordinates the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge, an annual statewide technology competition. It is expected that well over 1,000 high school students will participate in next year鈥檚 third online competition.
He earned a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from Ohio University in 2001, a Master鈥檚 of Arts in Public Administration from Ohio University in 1979, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1977.
He was a professional multimedia software developer and programmer from 1999 - 2004, producing more than 20 commercial video-based educational software titles. From 1989-1992, he served in the Philippines as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer and was awarded the distinguished formal civic honor of 鈥淎dopted Son鈥 by a rural municipality.
