āMiss Firecracker Contestā auditions scheduled for Jan. 16 ā 17
Auditions for āMiss Firecracker Contestā at Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½ are Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 16 ā 17, at 6:30 p.m. in Spyker Theatre. The auditions are open to the public.
The School of Visual and Performing Arts is casting two male roles, one male understudy, four female roles, and two female understudies. There will be at least one performance in which the understudies will perform as principal characters. Choir tours will not prevent anyone from being cast.
āMiss Firecracker Contestā is by the award-winning playwright Beth Henley and is the story of a young woman in the Deep South who seeks redemption and approval by participating in and hopefully winning the local Fourth of July beauty pageant, the Miss Firecracker contest. She is surrounded by her cousins and friends who are trying to support her and yet are consumed by their own need for redemption and approval.
Performance dates will be March 13 ā 15 at 7:30 p.m. and on March 16 at 2 p.m. All performances will be in Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½ās Black Box Theatre.
