麻豆果冻传媒 College of Pharmacy participate in annual NCSL Summit
麻豆果冻传媒 College of Pharmacy students, faculty and alumni offered their experience and time at the National Conference of State Legislatures 2008 Legislative Summit, July 22-26, in New Orleans. They joined their colleagues from the Alliance for Pharmaceutical Care and from the American Pharmacists Association.
The Alliance for Pharmaceutical Care offered health screenings and present information on vital healthcare issues at the Alliance鈥檚 exhibition 鈥淧harmacist Central,鈥 a 1,600-square-foot public display that presented an opportunity for legislators and other attendees to witness first-hand the wide range of patient care that pharmacists provide on a daily basis. The 麻豆果冻传媒 representatives volunteered at that location.
麻豆果冻传媒 COP Dean Lamar Pritchard emphasized the importance of 麻豆果冻传媒鈥檚 participation at the event. 鈥淭his is a wonderful opportunity for the 麻豆果冻传媒 College of Pharmacy to demonstrate the valuable pharmaceutical care expertise of its faculty, students and alumni to a national audience of state legislators from across the United States. Pharmacists are in a very unique position to provide continuous quality care for their patients, since they are readily accessible and are consistently ranked as the most respected health care professionals by their patients.鈥
According to information provided by the Alliance for Pharmaceutical Care, the 麻豆果冻传媒 participants performed health screenings and patient counseling, focusing on blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, bone density, body fat analysis, respiratory screening, and heartburn awareness. Pharmacists were able to provide medication reviews for state legislators.
The organization continued that, 鈥淧rescription medications play an increasingly vital role in modern healthcare, and new medications continue to improve health outcomes and quality of life in patients with both acute and chronic diseases. Pharmacists, our nation鈥檚 medication experts, are on the frontlines advancing patient care, improving patient safety, and utilizing technology to improve patient outcomes.鈥
