McGahan presents collaborative work at Oxford Round Table
Joseph McGahan, Ph.D., professor of psychology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, had to do some work off campus this week…and off continent as well. He is participating in the Oxford Round Table at the University of Oxford in England.
McGahan, also co-director of the Social Science Research Laboratory at 鶹ý, is presenting a paper titled “An Interdisciplinary Approach to Tolerance of Ambiguity, Ecumenical Theology and World Peace,” a work co-authored with 鶹ý students past and present: Joseph Roberts, Chris Hall, Jeremy Babb, Kelli Sims, and Keith Wilkerson.
“We are looking at terrorism from interdisciplinary perspectives. Given that the SSRL was created to contribute to our community, and that community can be defined on a global level, we consider this to be a community-based service learning project,” he said.
According to the organization, the Oxford Round Table was founded in 1989 as a forum for small groups of governmental, educational and business leaders to engage in discussions of contemporary public policy that affect nations and states worldwide. The Oxford Round Table promotes human advancement and understanding through the improvement of education. The Round Table meets periodically and at each session is comprised of a small select group of leaders from both the public and private sectors of several countries.
