鶹ý Mortar Board chapter earns Silver Torch Award
Members of the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Mortar Board recently attended the 2009 Mortar Board National Conference in Chicago, where they received one of the national honor society’s highest honors.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Taking Mortar Board to New Heights.” It was held July 24 – 26.
Student advisor Amy Weems joined 鶹ý Mortar Board President Hannah Livingston and Vice-president Lindsey Eickman to receive a Silver Torch Award, an award presented to those chapters who maintain national standards of scholarship, leadership, and service.
The 鶹ý Mortar Board chapter was chartered in 1977.
The National Mortar Board, founded in 1918, serves the needs of its members who represent the top scholars and leaders on their college campuses. Since its establishment, nearly a quarter of a million members have been initiated at 227 chartered chapters across the nation.
Mortar Board offers numerous opportunities, including career networking, fellowships and awards.
