AAPS recognizes work of 鶹ý College of Pharmacy graduate student

The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists recently selected a College of Pharmacy graduate student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe to participate in its 2009 Graduate Student Symposium in Drug Design and Discovery.

Mudit Mudit, a graduate student of Dr. Khalid El Sayed, will present his research on marine natural product inhibitors of prostate cancer invasion as both a podium and poster presentation at the meeting. The AAPS provides up to $1000 in travel funding for Mudit’s participation in the meeting.

His award represents one of only handful across the country given by the AAPS, the largest organization representing scientists dedicated to the discovery, development and manufacture of pharmaceutical products and therapies.

“This award demonstrates the quality of research completed in Dr. El Sayed's laboratory and the College,” said W. Greg Leader, Pharm.D. and Interim Dean of the 鶹ý College of Pharmacy.

“It is also evidence of Dr. El Sayed's outstanding efforts as a graduate student mentor and of Mr. Mudit's capabilities as a researcher,” he said.

Mudit will travel to the symposium at the Los Angeles Convention Center in November.
