麻豆果冻传媒 welcomes former ASHA president to campus March 13
麻豆果冻传媒鈥檚 College of Health Sciences and the Department of Speech-Language Pathology will welcome Dr. Kate Gottfred, 2008 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association president, March 13. She is the featured speaker for 麻豆果冻传媒's 21st Annual SLP Spring Conference in the University Conference Center, located on the seventh floor of the library.
鈥淲e are honored to be hosting such a renowned figure as Dr. Gottfred,鈥 said Dr. Johanna Boult, 麻豆果冻传媒 SLP Interim Department Head. 鈥淭he work of her non-profit organization, LEAP Learning Systems, is unmatched and stands as a testament to the positive effect that cross-disciplinary collaboration has on school success.鈥
Under Gottfred鈥檚 leadership, LLS has developed and implemented a system of support for language and literacy skill development for underserved children in the Chicago schools. Gottfred will be joined by co-presenter Mr. Michael Levesque, the executive director of LLS.
The presentation will focus on the topic "Language for Scholars: Effective Tools for Advancing Student Communication Skills." The conference, which will attract speech-language pathologists, teachers and educational administrators, begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. with a complimentary lunch included in the conference fee.
