Echols elected as Louisiana State Arts Councilās vice chairman
University of Louisiana Monroe Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications Michael Echols was recently elected vice chairman of the Louisiana State Arts Council. Echols previously served on the groupās Board of Directors.
The LSAC is a volunteer body appointed by the governor that meets quarterly to address arts related issues of importance to the state as well as approving all grant awards made by the Louisiana Division of the Arts.

Our work in the cultural economy is critical to Louisianaās long term success,ā Echols said. āWe are rich with resources and a wonderful place to live, learn and prosper. The state arts council makes it possible for the creative economy to flourish through grants and support.ā
Echols also serves on the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation Board of Directors and participates in several other civic organizations, including the Monroe Symphony Orchestra Endowment, Leadership Louisiana Graduate, the Monroe Kiwanis Club, and more.
A Monroe native, Echols earned his bachelorās and masterās degrees of business administration at Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½. Past experience includes a position as the chief operating officer for a financial services firm while serving Ā鶹¹ū¶³“«Ć½ as an adjunct professor of marketing.
