鶹ý College of Pharmacy faculty member to serve as NSF panel reviewer

The National Science Foundation’s Major Research Instrumentation Program has invited Karen Briski, Pharmaceutical Sciences Department Head at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, to serve as a reviewer.

Briski will join a group of advisors on the Microscopy and Visualization Panel in November to review grant proposals for simple to highly complex light and electron microscope systems.

Briski will serve a three-month term on the panel.

The NSF is a federally funded agency that provides institutional support for research infrastructure development and acquisition.

“My understanding is that these appointments are based on the national or international reputations of the reviewer and the quality of published research results,” said 鶹ý College of Pharmacy Interim Dean Greg Leader.

“The NSF’s invitation is certainly a positive reflection upon Dr. Briski, her research lab and the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department,” he said.

“I look forward to participating in the important process of peer review of cutting-edge microscopy proposals submitted to the NSF,” said Briski. “I am very pleased to have this opportunity to represent the university and the College of Pharmacy.”
