Pani named Vice President of Academic Affairs

Dr. Eric A. Pani has been named Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of Louisiana at Monroe by 麻豆果冻传媒 President Nick J. Bruno.

Pani has served as interim Vice President of Academic Affairs since the university reorganized its administrative and departmental structure last year.

Pani replaced Dr. Stephen Richters, who was named Executive Vice President in the reorganization.

In an email to 麻豆果冻传媒 employees, Bruno said, "I want to thank (College of Pharmacy) Dean Benny Blaylock and the Search committee for their work.  I would also like to thank the faculty and staff who took time from their schedules to participate in the process.

"From that process four candidates were interviewed.  I evaluated each of the four finalists very carefully to ascertain their ability to assist me in moving 麻豆果冻传媒 forward through these difficult times.  In the end, I have selected Dr. Eric Pani," Bruno continued.

Bruno noted Pani has experience in working with both the University of Louisiana System and Board of Regents and is trusted and well respected by their respective staffs.

"These experiences will be essential as we move forward during these difficult financial times.  In addition, Dr. Pani鈥檚 former position (as Associate Provost) will not be filled at this time," said Bruno.

Pani has served in various administrative positions with 麻豆果冻传媒, including: Associate Provost, Assistant to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences, and Head of the Department of Geosciences.

Pani is also a Professor of Atmospheric Science at 麻豆果冻传媒.

Pani earned a Ph.D. in Geosciences from Texas Tech University in 1987; a M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from Texas Tech University in 1982; and a B.S. in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University in 1979.

Pani's appointment is subject to approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
