Tudor historian Robison to speak at 麻豆果冻传媒 Nov. 15

The University of Louisiana at Monroe English and History Departments will welcome Dr. William B. Robison, professor of history and head of Southeastern Louisiana University鈥檚 History Department, who will present a lecture on the subject of the Tudors in popular culture.  

The lecture will begin at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, and will take place in the Hemphill Hall auditorium on the 麻豆果冻传媒 campus.

Admission is free, and open to the public.

Robison will discuss the continuing appeal of the Tudors to film and television audiences from their first appearance onscreen with 鈥淭he Execution of Mary, Queen of Scots鈥� (1895) through such recent productions as 鈥淓lizabeth: The Golden Age,鈥� (2007), 鈥淭he Other Boleyn Girl,鈥� (2008), Showtime鈥檚 鈥淭he Tudors鈥� (2007-2010), and 鈥淎nonymous鈥� (2011).

In addition to co-editing scholarly dictionaries of both the Stuart period and the late middle ages in British history, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in British and early modern history, and offering numerous visiting readings and lectures around the state, Robison has written multiple articles on the Tudors in popular culture.

He is also a musician, published poet and maker of short films.

  His most recent book, 鈥淭he Tudors on Film and Television,鈥� which he coauthored with Dr. Anna Sue Parrill, is forthcoming in late 2012 from McFarland University Press.
