KEDM's "Policy and a Pint" addresses Trees on Ouachita River Levees Oct. 30

At 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, KEDM Public Radio, 90.3 FM, will host a discussion about the new set of rules by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that calls for clearance of trees to form a buffer zone along 200 miles of the Ouachita River, including the Monroe and West Monroe area.

The forum, called “Policy and a Pint,” will feature a panel of experts, moderated by News and Public Affairs Director Bob Lenox.

Much of the event will be devoted to answering questions from the audience.

The first of a series, the event will be hosted by Jeff’s Place, located at 1810 Tower Dr. in Monroe.

Much of the event will be devoted to answering questions from the audience.

“Policy and a Pint is a way to open up discussion of important issues in Northeast Louisiana,” says KEDM Interim General Manager Jay Curtis.

“It’s an informal atmosphere, but will tackle policies and topics that matter to everyone who calls this area home. We hope the impact of trees along the levees is just the first of many conversations between citizens and policy makers.”

Samples of smoked ham and cheese will be provided. The forum is free and open to the public.

KEDM is northeast Louisiana's only public radio station and is housed at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
