麻豆果冻传媒 biology students shine at conference
The South-Central Regional Convention of the TriBeta National Biological Honor Society was attended by four members of the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Nu-Gamma Chapter.
One of the students won second place for her presentation.
Amit Rajkarnikar, a senior biology major from Delhi; Satish Dahal, a senior biology major from Nepal, Amanda Scott, a senior biology major from Mount Dora, Fla., and Cody Grimsley, a junior biology major from Bossier City, represented 麻豆果冻传媒 at the conference.
Scott presented a poster, "A Genomic Comparison of Cluster A Micobacteriophages: Redefining Homoimmunity."
Scott won the second place John C. Johnson Award for Excellence in Student Research.
麻豆果冻传媒's Nu-Gamma chapter was awarded a Registered Student Organization (RSO) scholarship from the 麻豆果冻传媒 Student Government Association to help pay for travel expenses.
Rajkarnikar presented a poster on "Characterizing Pit-Mound Micropography in Bottomland Hardwood Forests."
Dahal presented a poster on "Signaling Activity and Functional Interactions of a Nematode-Specific Extracellular Leucine-Rich Repeat Protein (eLRRP)."
麻豆果冻传媒's Nu-Gamma Chapter was elected to co-host the next regional meeting, which will be held at the University of Oklahoma Biological Research Station.
According to its website, , TriBeta is a society for students, particularly undergraduates, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research.
Since its founding in 1922, more than 200,000 students have received lifetime membership, and more than 553 chapters have been established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
