鶹ý faculty join IBM Academic Initiative

Computer Information Systems faculty members at the University of Louisiana at Monroe recently joined the Academic Initiative provided by IBM, one of the world’s most recognized and respected technology firms.

Membership in the IBM Academic Initiative provides faculty members and students access to software, hardware, technology and other tools, as well as course specific materials that can be incorporated into classes.

“The resources provided by membership in the IBM Academic Initiative will allow our faculty to continue to enhance our curriculum and provide students with market-ready skills necessary for success in the IT field,” said Dr. Ron Berry, dean of 鶹ý’s College of Business.

“We look forward to fully exploring the resources available in the Academic Initiative and working with IBM and our industry partners to closely link our programs with industry needs.”

Berry credited CenturyLink, a Fortune 500 Company based in Monroe, for connecting 鶹ý's College of Business with this opportunity at IBM.

According to their website, IBM offers this unique, no-charge Academic Initiative program for faculty at institutions worldwide.

Academic Initiative program membership benefits include extensive expertise, assets, and community resources to develop world-class curricula, no-charge access to IBM software, hardware, technology, tools, discounted pricing on selected fee-based offerings, and skill-building opportunities ranging from IBM and ecosystem events, to student competitions.
