Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ pharmacy professor named president-elect of LPA
University of Louisiana at Monroe's Anthony Walker, assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, was recently appointed as President-Elect of the Louisiana Pharmacists Association (LPA).
Walker will begin his three-year tenure on July 13 as 2013-2014 President-Elect, 2014-2015 LPA President, and as Immediate Past-President in 2015-2016.
According to their Web site, LPA strives to better inform the public about pharmacy practices as well as utilizes programs that address issues pharmacists face in order to maintain the overall well-being of Louisiana pharmacists and the communities they serve.
Upon being elected by his professional peers, Walker noted, "Never in my childhood dreams could I have imagined myself… advancing to serve in this honorable capacity. I am truly humbled to be a part of this."
Aside from professional growth, Walker's new appointment will further enhance his involvement in community-healthcare and continuing education.
Walker has been a member of the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ faculty since 1999 when he was first hired as a Poison Information Specialist.
He received two B.S. degrees in Medical Laboratory Science and Pharmacy from Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ then went on to obtain his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree in 2009 from Shenandoah University, Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy, Winchester, Va.
