鈥淭he community partnerships grew from a shared goal to engage minorities and girls who are under- represented populations in STEM- related careers in exciting hands-on, minds-on activities, explorations and conversations,鈥 said Tiffany Jackson, professional development coordinator for the TEACH program in the School of Education.

鈥淏y doing so, we are able to meet an authentic need in our community and involve our education students in rich, field-based experiences that will better prepare them to be innovative and effective educators and community leaders!鈥

The camp runs June 16-20 for upper elementary and middle school girls. Campers will enjoy field trips and interactive lessons on energy, science, and ecosystems, including work with live butterflies, and artistic representations of science.

Campers will also create their own volcanoes, and coordinate a live butterfly release on June 19.

2014 marks the second summer for the Girl Scouts Power Up camp at 麻豆果冻传媒. CenturyLink and 麻豆果冻传媒鈥檚 Teach program serve as co-sponsors of the camp.
