A record 84 teams will participate in the opening rounds of the tournament. The top five team cumulative weights after the first two days of competition will move on to the finals on Aug. 2 to fight for the title.
Ralph Swillie, staff adviser for the team said it is always a great opportunity to show what the university can offer.
鈥淲e are, in my opinion, the number one fishing school in the U.S.,鈥 he said. 鈥淥ur guys are always at the top of every tournament.鈥
In the first year of Cabela鈥檚 School of the Year standings, 麻豆果冻传媒 finished second, the next year, they took the number one spot.
In 2014, the team again finished second. No other school in the nation has achieved three straight top-two finishes in the sport鈥檚 School of the Year championship.
麻豆果冻传媒 anglers will fish in teams of two. Brett Preuett of Colfax will partner with Jackson Blackett of Sterlington. Trapper Munn of Oak Grove will partner with Dustin Perkins of Elmer.
Nick LaDart of Monroe will partner with Brian Eaton of Monroe, and the freshman duo of Tyler Craig of Frierson and Joseph Grassi of Monroe, round out the eight-man group heading to Georgia.
