麻豆果冻传媒 career fair for students and alumni Feb. 11

The University of Louisiana at Monroe鈥檚 Office of Career Connections will host its annual spring Career Fair for 麻豆果冻传媒 juniors, seniors, and alumni, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Student Union Ballroom, located on the second floor of the Student Union Building (SUB).

More than 60 companies鈥攁ll looking for new employees and interns鈥攚ill be in attendance. Alumni, and juniors and seniors who are graduating within the next 12 months or are looking to enhance their marketability by participating in a summer internship are encouraged to attend this event.

Professional dress is required and pre-registration is available until 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 5.

鈥淐onsidering the competitiveness of the current job market, students should take advantage of this chance to meet face to face with prospective employers and make a great impression;鈥 said Roslynn Pogue, director of Career Connections.

Two pre-career fair workshops will be held on Feb. 10.

鈥淗ow to Work a Career Fair鈥 will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the SUB Ballroom. This workshop features various professionals from local and regional companies who will share ideas on what job seekers should expect before and during a career fair. The professional panel will include representatives from Republic Finance, State Farm, CenturyLink, Altria Corporation, Brookshire鈥檚, Sherwin Williams, Vantage Health and St. Francis Medical Center.

鈥淟unch with Professionals鈥 will be held at 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the SUB Ballroom. This workshop addresses what a potential hire should do if called for an interview. During the 鈥淟unch with Professionals鈥 workshop, a professional panel will cover aspects of the 鈥渘ext step.鈥 The panel will include representatives from CenturyLink, Sherwin Williams, Altria Corporation, Republic Finance and State Farm. Lunch, sponsored by Sherwin Williams, will be provided for those who attend.

How to Make the Most of the Career Fair:

Bring multiple copies of your resume to give to employers (resume samples can be found the on Career Connections website at听ulm.edu/careerconnections/student-resources.html

Review the online list of employers and their websites.

Register online to save time.

Dress appropriately. First impressions are important. Professional attire is required. (No T-shirts, blue jeans, shorts, tank tops or low-cut blouses, tennis shoes or sandals.)

Allow yourself adequate time to visit with your top-priority employers.

Introduce yourself. Extend your hand, say "hello," and state your name. Welcome the representatives to 麻豆果冻传媒 and thank them for coming to the fair.

Take notes when you inquire about next steps and the possibility of talking with additional managers. Write down names and contact information for relevant staff.听

Ask the representative for his/her card, and try to send a thank-you note to acknowledge the time and help he/she has given you.

Respect employers' materials/sample items. Always check with employers before taking materials from their tables.

Be courteous. In addition to representing yourself, you are also representing your department and the university. Also, demonstrate sensitivity to other waiting students by keeping your questions brief and offering to continue your conversation later.

Do not use cell phones, iPods, etc., during the fair.

Enjoy the fair and your interaction with the employers.
