Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ to award nearly 650 degrees Saturday

On Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m., the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Fall 2015 Commencement Ceremony will take place in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½â€™s Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Degrees will be conferred by Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ President Dr. Nick J. Bruno to students in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½â€™s three colleges and graduate school.

Those students who finished their degrees during the summer sessions will also receive their degrees. Brigadier General Joanne F. Sheridan, Assistant Adjutant General – Army for the Louisiana National Guard will serve as the Commencement speaker. General Sheridan graduated from Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in 1983.

After earning her degree from Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ in 1983, General Sheridan began her military career on active duty from February 1984 through September 1988.

In October 1988, General Sheridan was appointed to the Louisiana Army National Guard where she has held many distinguished positions of leadership, including Headquarters Detachment Commander, Deputy Director of Military Personnel, Deputy Director of Information Management, and Deputy Chief of Staff.Ìý

Her military education includes the Adjutant General Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Staff Services School, the Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College where she received her Master of Strategic Studies degree.

Several honor graduates will also be recognized during the ceremony. They are designated as summa cum laude (3.900-4.000), magna cum laude (3.750-3.899) and cum laude (3.500-3.749).
