UNITY III, A Community Celebration of Equality and Inclusion Joining in Song, will
be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, March 19.
听
Sponsored by the University of Louisiana Monroe Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,
Office of International and Cultural Affairs, 麻豆果冻传媒 Choral and Bayou Masterworks Choral,
UNITY III will be at Greater New Antioch Baptist Church, 301 Sherrouse St., in Monroe.
听
The event is free and public is invited to attend.
听
This event begins with a parade of flags as 麻豆果冻传媒 students and community members carry
the flags of their countries. Eleven countries will be represented as Joyce Zhou,
a 麻豆果冻传媒 student from China, leads the parade with a dance.
听
President Ron Berry will give the opening remarks. Pamela Higgins Saulsberry, Ph.D.,
Executive Director of the 麻豆果冻传媒 Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Darian
Atkins, Executive Director of Community and Public Relations of Louisiana Delta Community
College, will speak on the purpose of the UNITY III program.
听
Plus, the Bayou Masterworks Chorale and the 麻豆果冻传媒 Concert Choir will perform together
in uplifting song for the program.
听
鈥淲e are joining together in UNITY because we can. And we are using music to unite
us as well,鈥� said Deborah Chandler, Ph.D., 麻豆果冻传媒 Director of Choral Activities in the
School of Visual and Performing Arts.
听
Those interested in participating in the UNITY III Choir can join rehearsal at 10
a.m. Saturday in the church sanctuary. No previous musical background is necessary.
听
