鶹ý to host Educators Rising State Conference on Feb. 29, 2024

MONROE, LA – 鶹ý Educators Rising program and the School of Education are proud to host the Louisiana Educators Rising State Conference on February 29, 2024. The conference is anticipated to host 700 attendees including participants, presenters, competition judges, and volunteers. The theme of the 2024 state conference is “Discover Your Legacy.” The Educators Rising State Conference committee is currently accepting session proposals and competition registrations through January 19, 2024.

Categories for proposals include conference presentations, panels, interactive workshops, poster showcases, interactive bulletin boards, and/or teaching/learning as art. Current educators, school counselors, and leaders in middle school, high school, college, and district/state departments are invited to submit proposals. The conference will also feature competitions throughout the day that include topics such as Children’s Literature, Interactive Bulletin Boards, Public Speaking, Impromptu Speaking and more. All competitors must be active-level members of the Educators Rising national organization. Visit to register and learn more about each competition. Dr. Amy Weems is an Assistant Professor of Education at 鶹ý and the Director of the 鶹ý Educators Rising Program. “We are so excited for aspiring educators and educational leaders from across the state to experience a day with us on the bayou at 鶹ý,” said Weems. “This pre-educator network has grown exponentially inLouisiana over the past six years, and we are one of the leading states in the country in program enrollment and innovative initiatives to grow our own future educators,” she added.

The conference will also feature a welcome from 鶹ý President Ron Berry and Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis. An additional highlight of the conference will be keynote presentations from the 2024 Louisiana Excellent Educators, including Teacher of the Year Kylie Altier, Principal of the Year Tia Trahan, and New Teacher of the Year Phoenix LeBlanc.

Since the conference is being held on Leap Day, February 29, Weems says the committee is encouraging attendees to wear their most fun shoes for leaping and exploring the campus.
