Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ sets Fall 2024 Convocation for Aug. 28 at Malone Stadium

MONROE, LA – Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½'s annual freshman convocation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, at 6:00 p.m. at Malone Stadium. Convocation will kick off with the traditional parade across the bridge at 5:45 p.m. Ìý

Freshmen are the focus of convocation, which begins with a walk across the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ bridge on Northeast Drive and ends in Malone Stadium. The walk represents the beginning of their academic journey and its ending when they receive their degrees at graduation. Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½â€™s spirit groups and Sound of Today marching band will join the freshmen in their march across the bridge, along with Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ administrators, faculty, and staff.ÌýÌý

Convocation is not only for first-time freshmen but also for all students who are new to Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½, in addition to any returning students who wish to attend.ÌýÌý

President Ron Berry will address the students, along with featured Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ alumnus guest speaker Montrell Marshall, Student Government Association President Jadyn Maloney, and Campus Activities Board President Beau Benoit.ÌýÌý

Guest speaker Montrell Marshall, M.A.T, M.Ed., is a three-time Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ graduate with a B.S. in Biology and master’s degrees in Educational Technology Leadership and Secondary Education.Ìý

Marshall is the principal of Carroll Jr. High and a Doctorate Student at Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½. He is the co-founder and co-CEO of Main Event Entertainment LLC. He is a member of the Mu Tau chapter of Omega Psi Phi where he participates in numerous community service efforts throughout Monroe and the surrounding area.Ìý

Convocation will be immediately followed by a pep rally featuring The Sound of Today Marching Band and Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ spirit groups.ÌýÌý

Convocation Schedule:Ìý

5:30 p.m. – Begin lining up in front of the libraryÌý

5:45 p.m. – March across the bridgeÌý

6:00 p.m. – Convocation at Malone StadiumÌý

6:30 p.m. - Pep Rally at Malone StadiumÌý
