The Reginald F. Lewis Scholars Program is designed to enhance the educational experiences
of exemplary Black male students with an emphasis on academics, social advancement,
and community service.鈥�
The program was created in tribute to Reginald F. Lewis, a renowned American entrepreneur
and philanthropist, famous for being the first African-American to have built a billion-dollar
company, TLC Beatrice International Holdings Inc, and whose success allows today's
young African-American male students to receive support in their endeavors.
Each cohort includes two students from each University of Louisiana System member
institution - including the University of Louisiana Monroe - for a total of 18 members
each year.
Scholarship:Tuition (up to 15 hours), base fees (not including any applicable program, lab, course,
and book fees),听and meals (subject to Aramark participation in the program)
Mentorship: Meet and learn from Louisiana鈥檚 influential Black professionals from a wide range
of industries.
Internship: In a company in your professional field of interest.听
Brotherhood & Networking: Building lifelong bond with members across cohorts and participating universities.听
Support: A dedicated advisory committee assists with ensuring scholars are engaged in activities on the 麻豆果冻传媒 campus that reflect the
three key areas:
Community experience, which includes a partnership with the Universities of Louisiana Management & Leadership
Institute and a service-learning project.
Social experience, which includes an annual retreat and academic and professional mentorship from business,
community, and university leaders.
Academic experience, which includes research projects and a study abroad opportunity in their junior
year.
Global Perspective: Travel abroad to Paris, France.
WHO'S SELECTED?
Particiapants are selected based on the following criteria.
A male student of African descent, including international students.
A fulltime student taking 12 or more credit hours per semester.
Attend one of the Universities in the , such as the University of Louisiana Monroe.
