Graduate Program Information

Sport Performance

Sport Performance is a complex mixture of biomechanical function, emotional factors, and training techniques in which sport participation is measured. The concentration in Sport Performance is a 36-hour program delivered with both face to face and online courses. There is a non-thesis option with an internship requirement or student can choose a thesis option for those interested in conducting in-depth research in an area of interest. The Sport Performance concentration is well suited for those with career goals of being an athletic coach, strength and conditioning coach, and other related careers.鈥

Applied Exercise Science

The Applied Exercise Scienceconcentration has a significant science focus on anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and biomechanics of human movement, and applications to exercise and therapeutic rehabilitation. Students learn to specialize in performance research, rehabilitative therapies, and related analytical methods and procedures in applied exercise and therapeutic rehabilitation.

Sport Management (Online Concentration)

The Sport Managementconcentration is designed to appeal to those who wish to work in the business aspects of the sport industry. The careers available in the field of sport management are diverse and continue to grow. Opportunities include program or facility directors, marketing and promotions, corporate sales, sporting goods, community programs, athletic directors and business managers, and sport management. Combined with the worldwide growth and influence of sports on society, new opportunities continue to be created in a variety of sport-related settings.

Thesis Option

Graduate students in the Applied Exercise Physiology and Sport Management concentrations have the option of completing a thesis in an interest area of their choice. See the attached Thesis checklist and Thesis/Dissertation guide for more details.
